I'm not one of those who can easily hide I don't have much money but boy if I did I'd buy a big house where we both could live If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show I know it's not much but it's the best I can do My gift is my song and this one's for you And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song It's for people like you that keep it turned on So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue Anyway the thing is what I really mean Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen And you can tell everybody this is your song It may be quite simple but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world June 14 Inspirational Songs -- Music As My Muse -- Silversun Pickups: Catch & ReleaseFollow me
Want to live in a fantasy Quietly Show you everything you'll ever need I hope you'll take it I know you're faking just a little bit Come on and taste it Just get excited cuz you're giving in Come and see How the wind in your hair will feel differently Catch and release The lure above Who... Here we are In the bathwater hold afloat Later on Don't say I didn't tell you so Maybe I didn't but you're taking it Knew you were faking just a little bit Now that you'll taste it No need to fight it cuz you're giving in Follow me Down the streams of sweat on your body Can't believe The lure was enough Do you see? How the wind in your hair now feels differently Catch and release The lure above Who knows? How this feeling grows? Was it truly what - Truly worth the starting Who knows? Why the engine's blown Was it truly what - Truly worth the parting Follow me Down the streams of sweat on your body Can't believe The lure was enough Do you see? How in the wind in your hair now feels differently Catch and release the lure above Guess the lure was enough [x3] April 19 Inspirational Songs -- Music As My Muse -- Death Cab for Cutie: I Will Posses Your HeartHow I wish you could see the potential,
the potential of you and me. It's like a book elegantly bound but, in a language that you can't read. Just yet. You gotta spend some time, Love. You gotta spend some time with me. And I know that you'll find, love I will possess your heart. You gotta spend some time, Love. You gotta spend some time with me. And I know that you'll find, love I will possess your heart. There are days when outside your window I see my reflection as I slowly pass, and I long for this mirrored perspective when we'll be lovers, lovers at last. You gotta spend some time, Love. You gotta spend some time with me. And I know that you'll find, love I will possess your heart. You gotta spend some time, Love.
You gotta spend some time with me. And I know that you'll find, love I will possess your heart. I will possess your heart. I will possess your heart. You reject my... advances... and desperate pleas... I won't let you... let me down... so easily. So easily. You gotta spend some time, Love. You gotta spend some time with me. And I know that you'll find, love I will possess your heart. You gotta spend some time, Love. You gotta spend some time with me. And I know that you'll find, love I will possess your heart. You gotta spend some time, Love. You gotta spend some time with me. And I know that you'll find, love I will possess your heart. I will possess your heart. I will possess your heart. March 31 Inspirational Songs -- Music As My Muse -- Kings of Leon: CloserStranded in this spooky town, And it's coming closer And it's coming closer And it's coming closer And it's coming closer August 25 Long Weekend: 08/21/08 - 08/24/08 -- Oregon Coast and Downtown PortlandSuch a wonderful weekend -- sort of a mini-vacation weekend. :) We had planned to start off the weekend on Thurs with hiking and camping, but work threw a wrench into those plans, so we improvised, and we took off for the Oregon coast right after work Thurs afternoon. We drove to Cannon Beach, where we were able to check out Haystack Rock right as the sun was setting. Breathtaking views. Fans of The Goonies recognize that view? =) Then we needed to find a place to stay, so we drove where there was room at a hotel in Seaside, OR. What a lovely little town! We agreed that we MUST have a beach house here. =) We slept there and awoke to a walk on the beach, lattes, breakfast and some fiercely competitive Skee Ball at the local arcade! We pooled our tickets and redeemed them for Fun Dip, Tootsie Rolls and plastic purple vampire teeth. After sharing my very first cinnamon and sugar Elephant Ear, we headed to Tillamook, where we witnessed the magic of cheese making! And I had my very first cheese curds ... squeeky, yummy fun! We then headed to downtown Portland where we had reservations at Rocket. There we had an absolutely perfect dining experience -- Rocket has a creative and tasty menu and a view from the patio that is unbeatable. And when Leather, the exec chef and co-owner of Rocket, says there are tater tots or pop tarts on the menu, they aren't what you are thinking. You simply must try it to see what I'm talking about. Truly phenomenal dining experience. The weekend was a perfect blend of exploring new places and things, relaxing and meeting friends. Now I'm starting to plan the next outing. =) Some pictures are below, but most are on my facebook profile. Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach at sunset -- that's how we kicked off our weekend Seaside beach Skee Ball in Seaside Seaside Flippin' gorgeous view as we drove along the coast Tillamook ... say cheese! View from Rocket's patio seating July 12 Houston VisitJune 18 First Post-Surgery Run on WaterfrontFirst post-surgery run along the waterfront, 1 blk from my little studio downtown. First time to run was last Saturday on a treadmill in MN -- 1.25 miles just to test the waters; next time to run was today during a lunch break while I worked from home -- 4 miles, with stopping to take photos. =) This is a sampling. The rest are on my facebook page.
Cheers!
May 10 Latte Art Perfection at Chocolati, Greenwood AveThe barista at Chocolati on Greenwood Ave made the most PERFECT latte art heart ... I had to take a picture. =)
My friend and I stopped here to get some chocolate as we strolled along Greenwood Ave during the Greenwood/Phinney Artwalk this afternoon. Super fun time.
May 05 Fondue InsightsMy new favorite quote:
"I like fondue -- when you call it queso and serve it with chips."
---- MJ, when asked if he would like to attend the fondue party I was planning to have with K and S
I heart my friends. They make me laugh, and they make me happy. =)
April 20 Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Posse's on Broadway" -- Capitol Hill, Seattle Neighborhood
I don't know why I never put two and two together, but it wasn't until Kelsey told me that Sir Mix-a-Lot's song "Posse's on Broadway" was about Broadway Ave right here in Capitol Hill, an awesome neighborhood in Seattle, that it really just started to make sense to me.
In the lyrics, he mentions eating burgers at Dick's, a popular burger place in Seattle:
"...Now the freaks are gettin hungry in Mix A Lot's treatin'
We stopped at Taco Bell for some Mexican eatin' But Taco Bell was closed the girls was on my tip They said go back the other way we'll stop and eat at Dick's Dick's is the place were the cool hang out The swass like to play and the rich flaunt clout..." And I knew he was from this area ... I even saw him at Nordstrom's shoe department a few months ago. I just never put two and two together. Kinda neat.
When I move into my new place at the end of May, I sooooo want to live in a cute, little place in Capitol Hill.
And I want it to be by Broadway.
And clearly ... I want a posse. =)

April 19 Kelsey's First CrossFit 1:1 Training Session!Last Thur04.17.08, Kelsey had his first CrossFit 1:1 training session with Aaron at CrossFit Eastside. He did GREAT!! Aaron taught him how to do a Kip pull up on his first day. Way to go, Kelsey! A video of him doing the Kip is below. Pictures of his workout, ending time, and some shots of him doing the exercises are below, as well. Pictures aren't great ... they are from my phone. Awesome job, Kels! THE KIP!
December 31 My Birthday! For my birthday this year, my girlfriends and I went to Queen Mary Tea in the U-District of Seattle. We had the formal afternoon tea, and we all enjoyed the tea and goodies and the chance for all of us to catch up. I also enjoyed wearing the birthday tiara during the tea, and I even brought one home to wear for the rest of the evening. I think I'll wear it to work when I return to the office next week. =)
When I arrived at home, Quince surprised me with a birthday dinner ... Kimberly, Scott, Quince and I had dinner and drinks together at our house. Was a WONDERFUL evening! Quince scored some major points. =)
A couple pictures are below, but the album is on facebook.
December 10 Lost Christmas Ornaments and Decorations, But Had Fun Anyway!Quince and I had a super weekend.
It was sunny on Saturday morning, and while Quince was rovering from a bad cold (he was out for two days from work ... he never misses work), so he didn't go to running group, I was just tired and a wee bit lazy, so I didn't go to running group, either. I did, however, still run 5.5 miles ... I just had to run by my lonesome, albiet with my Zune. :) We went to brunch at Blue Star Cafe, and then ran errands, gave my new car its first bath and went to a party at Jim and Carl's. It was quite the party. It was THE party, I should be clear. :)
Sunday was also a day of brunch (BluWater in Greenlake) where we watched it flurry from our table bythe window. We then we followed our tradition and got hot chocolates and picked out a Christmas tree and wreath for the front door. It was our first tree since we moved to Seatte. We discovered, sadly, that we lost a box of Christmas tree decorations when we moved. We lost some sentimental things -- Q's bell ornament that he made in kindergarden was amongts the casualties. I lost my favorite ribbon, tree topper, tree skirt, stockings and ornaments from Neiman Marcus ... they were beautiful and I loved them. So after a little bit of mourning, we ventured out to find replacements for what we could replace.
I discovered a new favorite store -- JZ Rose in Bellevue. We found some pretty ornaments there, but I must go back to shop ... pretty little feminine things. =) It was a whirlwind of shopping for stockings, lights, ornaments, etc. All in all a successful outing, but I'm not 100% happy with the new tree topper. But it'll do. Was a super late night of stringing all those lights (1800 of them) on the tree. A picture is below, but the rest are on my facebook site.
November 25 Thanksgiving, Westlake Tree/Star Lighting and Seattle Half MarathonBusy Thanksgiving holiday weekend!
THANKSGIVING AT KIMBERLY & SCOTT'S :: 11/22/07
Quince and I spent Thanksgiving at Kimberly and Scott's this year. Was a GREAT time. We had two turkeys: 1 smoked and 1 fried (Texas style!). We decided (forgive us, Texas friends) that we liked the smoked turkey MUCH better. Scott is smoked turkey king. Some pictures are below, but most are on facebook.
WESTLAKE TREE AND STAR LIGHTING :: 11/23/07
Quince, Kimberly, Scott and I went to the Westlake Star and Tree Lighting in downtown Seattle this year. It's the 2nd year Q and I have been, and we had so much fun! We started a new tradition this year, and the result was we had a little too much champagne. :) Some pictures here, but most are on facebook.
SEATTLE HALF MARATHON :: 11/25/07
Quince and I ran in the Seattle Half Marathon this year. The weather was GORGEOUS! It was freezing (literally), but then the sun came out and made for one heck of a perfect run! It ws my first half, and I couldn't have asked for better weather. Kirsten ran with me (thank you, Kirsten!!) which helped, especially when it was mile 13 and I saw that last hill and wanted to cry. :) That course is HILLY ... good grief. Super fun time! Some pictures are below. November 15 Kelly Clarkson Concert in SeattleMonday 11/12 was our friend Kimberly's birthday, and since she loves Kelly Clarkson, we went to see Kelly live at the Paramount Theater. Kelly was GREAT! The first American Idol winner really stands out from the rest of 'that crowd' ... truly talented. That theater is GORGEOUS by the way, so if you haven't been, be sure to check it out when you can.
Classic moment? Scott and Quince thought I just got tickets for Kimberly and me. As we were all watching the Hawks play the 49ers at the Tap House, Scott looked at his watch and said, "you guys better get going ... don't want to be late." I laughed and handed him his ticket. The looks on their faces were PRICELESS!!!!!
Some pictures are below, but for the rest, check out my facebook photo album. They are all loaded there.
November 06 Jack WFH with MeI worked from home today, and Jack kept me company. He kept getting onto the ottomans by our entry way, and I kept scolding him to get down. Looks like he just wanted to nestle in on top of Quince's jacket he left there. Too cute, so I had to take a picture ... THEN I scolded him to get down and hung up Q's jacket. :)
